Consort undertook the full strip out of 50 premium flats within an old lace mill built in the 1800’s Springfield mill, Sandiacre Nottingham

The fire started in a flat on the top floor and destroyed the top floor, when the fire services arrived the used water from a nearby river to put the fire out and the firefighting water flooded all the flats on all the floors below, due to this water being river water all the lower flat then developed mould growth throughout and due to this all Consort staff working within this building had to used full PPE that included full respiratory protection.

At the height of the project Consort had over 30 members of staff working on site to carry out the full strip out this also included specialist steel fabricators who we contracted to remove a full steel RSJ roof frame.

The project used over 100 x 40 yard roll off skips and we had staff members at ground level sorting waste into designated skips.  Consort all install temporary power supplies throughout the building to allow us to use air scrubbers to filter the air within working areas.

The project took 12 weeks to complete.  Consort have now submitted a tender that is worth over 8 million pounds  to undertake the reinstatement works to return this building back to its original condition.M
